Darth Fader's mini bio..

DJ Ferdi aka Darth Fader. I started Djing back in Highschool in Bangkok, Thailand at the age of 14 mainly playing at school dances using tape decks and cd players connected to the school mixing desk. Always being the one to make my many start/stop mixtapes filled with my now personal intros and outros and giving them to friends. I landed my first paid Djing gig in Singapore back in 1998-1999 at a small club called Area 51, bullshiting my way to get the gig to play retro-mumbo 80s music(basically learning how to use proper DJ equipment for the first time and teaching myself ) having worked in a music record and cd shop, I had access to alot of music. That gig continued every weekend till I moved to Perth, Australia.

In Perth re-discovered Techno and Electro and being thrust into the world of dance music and the availability of various record shops, unlike back in Asia at that time. It also helped that alot of my friends at the time had turntables and mixers. I became a Techo and Electro purist and have always believed in sticking to my roots and playing what I love. Always watching and studying DJs on the decks at clubs and events.

In 2000-2001 I had the opportunity to broaden my horizons in the dance music culture by getting involved in Event Management for Oblivion303, mainly handling the Marketing and Advertising side of things. It was a great experience getting to meet DJs and musicians from all walks of life. From Manumission resident DJ's Griff & Jay, DJ Morpheus aka Samy Birnbach, Smith & Mighty and Miss MoneyPenny's resident Dj's Dizire Dubfire & James Fierce.

Being an avid record digger and collecting every thing from 80s pop, 60s funk, 70s disco and even your obscure 70s and 80s electro. I began my Deejaying days mainly playing Techno, Electro, Tech house and Tribal/Progressive House. At the time there was not much gigs going around for Electro DJs and trying to branch out into different genres to get more work was proving expensive. In 2003, I managed to get myself a residency at "Trash" at The Apartment nightclub in East Perth for about a year. Belting out the best in Electro, Techno, Electroclash and Indie Dance. Since then I've been rocking crowds on and off with a versatile range of DJ sets. From Techno/Tech House and Tribal/Progressive House support sets at Godskitchen, Ministry:Hard Energy, Church Nightclub and Gatecrasher. In the past couple of years in between my regular job(also in the nightclub scene) I've been breaking out my rare funk and disco collection and Deejaying at venues such as Manor and the Windsor Hotel. Now with Electro being the main influence in alot of music and the internet making music so much more accessible, I'm ready to get back on those wheels of steels and introduce the world to my new persona "Darth Fader". Download my DJ mixsets and let me know what you think. Also stay updated and look out for my remixes and original tracks in the near future. Welcome to the Dark side... Darth Fader
